Sun Shines on 11 West Sussex Schools Thanks to Anesco

The firm has successfully completed roof top solar pv installations at 11 sites in the region to date. Through an innovative West Sussex County Council scheme, many of the schools are benefitting from the low-cost, renewable electricity generated by the panels after capitalising on an interest-free loan made available by the local authority.

Alongside this a number of schools have also opted to self-fund the introduction of renewable energy measures on their premises.

The following schools were some of those that appointed Anesco to manage the design and installation of the solar pv schemes; Glebe Primary School, Littlehaven Infant School, St Peter’s Catholic, Chichester High school and The Angmering Secondary School.

The eco-friendly solar panels work continuously during weekends and school holidays while saving the schools thousands of pounds in energy bills every year.

Gary Stepney, site manager at Glebe Primary School, said: “I would like to offer my thanks to all the team for a fantastic, professional install. All the staff were very polite, very tidy and a credit to the company.

“I have been the site manager at Glebe Primary for a very long time and must say in 14 years this has been the best company I have had the pleasure to work with.”

Adrian Pike, CEO of Anesco, said: “It’s been fantastic working with the schools and West Sussex County Council and we’re pleased to have successfully completed installs on 11 schools to date.

“We hope to help the schools further reduce their energy bills and carbon emissions with a second stage of upgrades. By looking at a blend of energy efficiency measures, they will be able to achieve maximum long term savings.”

Technologies being considered for a second stage of upgrades include solar thermal, which captures the sun’s rays and uses them to heat water, and biomass which burns natural materials such as wood pellets.
